Jump Steady
Garry Templeton was a quote machine. He received a salary increase from the St. Luis Cardinals in 1979 but argued the increase was too small. He told the Cardinals that they could take their shortstop job and shove it between the Gateway Arch. That same year Templeton led the National League in both hits and triples. He had better stats than Larry Bowa and Dave Concepción yet Garry was only selected as a reserve for the All-Star team. Templeton thought it was a slap in the face and refused to take a spot on the team with the now infamous response:

"If I ain’t startin’, I ain’t departin’!"
